APPENDIX 15 CALCULATION OF SCATTERING AND EXTINCTION COEFFICIENTS BY MIE THEORY 

Using (15.A.1)-(15.A.7) one may calculate the sums in (15.13) and (15.14) by adding terms until a desired accuracy is achieved. Convergence is rapid and, for most cases, the number of terms required is less than 20.
