With high temperatures the x values will not fit into the diagram. Then the hj values have to be calculated with smaller x values in order to draw the isotherms. In Table 4.6 these values are calculated with values x = x q% at various temperatures. Drawing the fundamental axes and isotherms with the instructions given above and the saturation curve with the help of Table 4.6 leads to the Mollier diagram in Fig 4,10u. [Pg.75]

In addition to COg, Cl and BPG also bind better to deoxyhemoglobin than to oxyhemoglobin, causing a shift in equilibrium in favor of Og release. These various effects are demonstrated by the shift in the oxygen saturation curves for Hb in the presence of one or more of these substances (Figure 15.35). The uranium accumulation of tooth enamel is negligibly small while it can be appreciable for dentine. Hence, the efforts to determine the y-ray dose from the external dentine to enamel must be made to assess the equivalent dose, ED, considering the linear uranium uptake and early as well as late uranium uptake using polynomial formula for some fossils. Closed-form expressions for pore-scale saturation (Eq.[16] and [17]) for a unit cell with triangular central pore were fitted to measured saturation data of Hygiene Sandstone (Brooks Corey, 1964). Spectroscopic techniques as well have been used in demonstrating an interaction between CaD and CaT (Mani and Kay, 1990). For fluorescence studies, the sulfhydryl groups in CaD were labeled with acry-lodan. Addition of CaT to labeled CaD in the presence of Ca + produced nearly 50% increase in fluorescence intensity and the emission maximum shifted to 492 nm from 504 nm. Labeled CaD was titrated with CaT. Analysis of the titration curve by curve fitting showed that the best fit was obtained when the molar ratio of CaT to CaD in the complex at saturation was 1 1. A value of (9 2) X 10 M was obtained from the titration. However, there was no evidence of any interaction between CaT and CaD in the absence of Ca2+. [Pg.112]
