Fig. 2.20 Albrecht Salzer, who prepared in his doctoral thesis (finished in 1974) the first tripledecker sandwich, at my retirement party 2002. After a year as a postdoctoral fellow with me, he did his Habilitation under the mentorship of Hans Rudolph Oswald at the University of Zurich and became Privatdozent at this institution. In the 1980s, he published the textbook Organometallic Chemistry together with Christoph Elschenbroich, which became one of the standard texts in the field. In 1992, Albrecht accepted an invitation as Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the TH in Aachen where he still is...

It was in the context of this work that I suggested to Albrecht Salzer (see Fig. 2.20), who joined me in autumn of 1970, that he should study in the first part of his thesis the behaviour of nickelocene towards trityl chloride Ph3CCl. The idea was that, provided the mechanistic scheme shown in Scheme 6.1 was correct, a cationic species analogous to B with nickel instead of iron should be... 

The "Josiphos ligands" were developed in the 1990s by Antonio Togni at the ETH and termed after Josi Puleo, the technician who prepared the first one. In analogy to "Josiphos", Albrecht Salzer at the RWTH Aachen named in 2003 the "Daniphos ligands" after his coworker Daniela Vasen.[129]...
