The purpose of this study is to determine the relative timing of Au mineralization in the context of the regional tectonic history. This was accomplished buy using cathode-luminescence to study gangue quartz in auriferous sulfide-quartz-carbonate veins. 

The ED, located in the southern El, is divided into West Gabbro, Discovery, and South Gold zones that are hosted by the BRM, the Elmtree Formation, and/or by the Chaleurs Group. The Discovery Zone (DZ) consists of several zones of polymetallic base-metal veins, whereas the South Gold Zone and WGZ consists of fine-grained disseminated sulfides and very minor base-metal veins. 

The Guitard Brook deposit (GB) located in the northeast El is hosted by tholeiitic basalt and gabbro of the Devereaux Formation, specifically the Black Point Gabbro and associated trondhjemitic, diabasic dykes, and basaltic flows (Langton, 1993).
