Ruthenium support-bound

The synthesis and olefin metathesis activity in protic solvents of a phosphine-free ruthenium alkylidene bound to a hydrophilic solid support have been reported. This heterogeneous catalyst promotes relatively efficient ring-closing and cross-metathesis reactions in both methanol and water.200 The catalyst-catalyzed cross-metathesis of allyl alcohol in D20 gave 80% HOCH2CH=CHCH2OH. [Pg.83]

With the discovery by Grubbs of ruthenium carbene complexes such as Cl2(PCy3)2Ru=CHR, which mediate olefin metathesis under mild reaction conditions and which are compatible with a broad range of functional groups [111], the application of olefin metathesis to solid-phase synthesis became a realistic approach for the preparation of alkenes. Both ring-closing metathesis and cross-metathesis of alkenes and alkynes bound to insoluble supports have been realized (Figure 5.12). [Pg.182]

The cyclization of A-alkenyl derivatives of resin-bound peptides by ruthenium-catalyzed ring-closing metathesis has been investigated [426-428]. These reactions do not proceed well on insoluble supports, and cyclizations in solution are generally more successful. [Pg.456]

When rare-earth-metal ions such as Eu and Tb are bound to polyelectrolyte membranes such as poly(sodium acrylate) and poly(sodium ethene-sulphonate) their fluorescence intensities are considerably enhanced this is associated with the formation of asymmetric bonds between the rare-earth ions and the acrylate/S03 groups in the polymers. This was confirmed by the addition of EDTA to the Tb -poly(sodium acrylate) complex which, because of its preferential binding to the polymer, displaced Tb ions and resulted in reduced fluorescence of the latter. Stokes shifts of fluorescent dyes in different polymer systems have been related more to mobility effects in the polymer than polarity, and the fluorescence of hydrolysed aspirin has been found to be affected by the nature of different polymer supports. The luminescence properties of cis-(2,2 -bipyridyl)ruthenium(ii) complexes have been found to be influenced by binding the complex to a polymer matrix,as have the luminescence properties of flavones and l-octadecyl-3,3-dimethyl-6 -nitrospiro(indoline-2,2 -2H-benzopyran). Other studies of interest in-... [Pg.501]

Supported ruthenium has also been shown to be an extremely effective water gas shift catalyst at operating temperatures above 350°C (7). An essential step in this catalytic process involves the binding of CO to the metal. In this regard, on a fully reduced, supported ruthenium sample, CO absorption affords a band in the IR at 2040 cm S which is ascribed to a linearly bound carbon monoxide group (8). [Pg.107]

While PEG is a polyether, it has been used in various applications as a support for oxidation catalysts. One example of this is the PEG-bound ruthenium... [Pg.129]
