Rotor studs

The main plant s manufaeturing faeility was also responsible for produeing the new diffuser and first- and seeond-stage stator assemblies, in addition to many other miseellaneous parts. The owner/user s spare rotor was used as part of the rebuild. Complete disassembly, dimensional, and penetrant inspeetions of the rotor were eondueted. New blades were installed in the dises. Final qualifieations of the rotor ineluded rotor stud streteh tests, balaneing, and meehanieal and elee-trieal runout eheeks. 

The rotor studs (Figure 5-20) shall be ground of the same material as the disk and have rolled threads. The studs shall have provisions for positive loeking to prevent unserewing of the studs during operation.

Stud Impact Mill at a speed of 11,789 rpm and a door speed of 5,647 rpm. The resulting flours were air-classified in a Model 410 MPVI Air Classifier at a rotor speed of 2,200 rpm and a brake ring... 

The reactor consists simply of a horizontal tube, usually heated externally by means of a suitable furnace. Inside the tube is a screw agitator and conveyor, which is rotated slowly. A typical example is shown in Fig. 5.2. The agitator conveyor can take several forms the one illustrated consists of four long flights twisted with an even pitch about the shaft in a similar manner to the rotor of a lawn mowing machine. In other models two flights have been used instead of four. The flights are attached firmly to the shaft by means of struts, or studs in the case of a small model, in a direction such that the flat sides follow the contour of the cylinder in which they rotate.
