Rotational molding typical applications

The aosslinking of polyethylene typically occurs during the degradation of the polymer, but PE crosslinked in a controlled way has useful properties. Methods for intentionally crosslinking extruded and molded PE have created an important niche of applications crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE or PEX) is used for more resilient foams, tubing, film, sheet, cable coverings, and rotational moldings. [Pg.214]

Fatty acid esters are commonly used as intemal/extemal release agents. PVC is the most typical application, but they work well also on acrylic and polycarbonate. They do not reduce clarity. Fatty acid esters and amides do not usually interfere with the secondary finishing operations, and some have high temperature stability, making them well suited for rotational mold resins and engineering plastics. Fatty acid... [Pg.356]

Typical applications of rotational molding include chemical tanks, automotive and commercial aircraft parts, backyard play equipment, toys, etc. Rotational molding requires long cycle time, which puzzles the overall success of the technology. The cycle times are restricted by the time required to heat up and cool down the mold and the product by the slow heat convection process. [Pg.71]

The versatility of rotational molding is constantly demonstrated by a wide range of products in an equally wide range of markets. Some typical market sectors and the applications within them include ... [Pg.321]

Ideal non-tank applications for rotational molding are typically complex hollow forms in relatively low quantities (up to approximately 10,000 parts). There are obvious exceptions to this, for example children s toys. But for the most part, rotomolding offers benefits to end-users with low upfront costs in tooling and equipment and the ability to render almost any design that the molder can conceive. [Pg.322]
