The epidemiological and clinical studies reviewed in this chapter offer compelling evidence that nuts, eaten as part of a balanced diet, contribute to reduction of CHD and related risk factors. Common foods such as nuts, fish, fruits, and vegetables are increasingly recognized as important sources of bioactive nutrients. Collectively, they offer an alternative approach for prevention and management of CHD [42].
