Ripples and Wrinkles in Graphene

FIGURE 1.12 (a) A typical configuration of graphene at room temperature with intrinsic ripples. (With [Pg.20]

It has been demonstrated that Dirac fermions are scattered by ripples of the graphene sheet through a potential that is proportional to the square of the local curvature. The coupling between geometry and electron propagation is unique to graphene, and results in additional scattering and resistivity because of the ripples.  [Pg.21]

The ripples in graphene are intrinsic structures, and differait curvatures can be envisioned. With the outlined strong correlation betweai the graphene sheet structure and the resulting physical and chani-cal properties, such properties of graphene can be controlled via manipulation of gnphene ripples. [Pg.21]
