DNA distortions observed in our MD simulations of the four ring-saturated thymine derivatives listed in Table 1 were qualitatively similar however their magnitudes are greater for Tg and 5-hydroxy-6-dhT due to the axial methyl group at C(5). Variations in rise for several dinucleotide steps near the modified thymine base T 7 are compared in Figure 3.
