A thermostated reaction vessel is loaded with l-(l,6-Heptadiynyl)-2-methoxynaphthalene (497 mg, 2 mmol), benzonitrile (3, 412 pi, 4 mmol) and CpCo(COD) (5mol%) in THF (20 ml), under an argon atmosphere [15].
