Resorcinol allergic contact dermatitis is infrequent despite widespread exposure to this compound in acne remedies, hair tonics, cosmetics, and suppositories. Crossreactions occur with resorcinol monoacetate and to a lesser degree with pyro-catechol, hydroquinone, and hexylresorcinol (Caron and Calnan 1962 Keil 1962).
