Resolution of Racemic and Diastereomeric Mixtures

This chapter describes the preparation of optically pure phosphines and derivatives by resolution of racemic/diastereomeric mixtures or by taking advantage of additional stereogenic elements in the scaffold of the phosphine. 

Some of the chemistry discussed in this chapter has been used for over a century and indeed it constituted the only way to prepare enantiopure P-stereogenic compounds until new methods appeared in the 1990s, discussed in Chapters 4 to 6. In spite of the considerable versatility of those new methodologies, they allow
