Residues, in enzyme activity

In this chapter, we discuss examples of heterogeneous catalysts inspired by the activity/selectivity and mechanism of enzymes, with a particular focus on how multiple surface functionahties can act cooperatively to perform the catalytic reaction such as they do in an enzymatic active site. The spatial positioning of identical or disparate functional groups is given attention, since simulating the precise arrangement of residues in enzyme active sites is one of the most important challenges in this field [1]. [Pg.496]
