Using Brunner s equations for swing amplitude, Eq. (9.1), it is possible to ratio the swing amplitudes for a given thickness of the BARC db to that of the substrate without BARC (i.e., d 0). In this way, the swing amplitude reduction 5rei relative to the substrate is obtained as the square root of the ratio of the reflectivities 

Similarly, one ean define 5rei for multiple thin-film staeks versus the substrate.
