reduction reactions with the Wilkinson catalyst ate regioselective. For example, the disubsti-tuted double bond in the compound shown below is reduced, but the trisubstituted one is not. 

There are three alkenyl groups in the above structure. The least sterically hindered one is the exocychc methylene group. Hydrogenation occurs from the least sterically hindered bottom face of the ring system to give the product shown below.
