USCG has the following prescriptive requirement for rails and guards in 46 CFR 92.25-5  [Pg.70]

The following are required for the rungs and cleats on fixed ladders by 1910.27(b)(1)  [Pg.70]

27(b)(l)(i) All rungs shall have a minimum diameter of three-fourths inch for metal ladders, except as covered in paragraph (b)(7)(i) of this section and a minimum diameter of 1 Vs inches for wood ladders. [Pg.70]

27(b)(l)(ii) The distance between rungs, cleats, and steps shall not exceed 12 inches and shall be uniform throughout the length of the ladder. [Pg.71]
