Regioselective trans-2-octene

Of course, the cleavage reactions of both 2-aryl- and 2-alkyl aziridines are stereoselective because only the trans-diastereomers of the corresponding regioisomers 1 and 2 are formed. In other words, 2-aryl substituted aziridines showed opposite regioselectivity to 2-alkyl aziridines. With bicyclic aziridines, exclusive formation of the trans diastereomer is observed in the case of symmetric bicyclic aziridines. Unsymmetrical aziridines such as styrene, octene, and undecene aziridines produce a minor amount of the other regioisomer. [Pg.237]

The hydroformylation of trflns-3-octene at room temperature using the (non-encapsulated) rhodium catalyst based on tris(weta-pyridyl)phosphine afforded 2-ethylheptana] and 2-propylhexanal in exactly a 1 1 ratio. The encapsulated catalyst provided an unprecedented selectivity for 2-propylhexanal of 75% (Scheme 8.3). Again the selectivity is largely retained at 40 °C whereas at 80 °C the isomerization side reaction prohibits the selective formation of aldehydes. Similar regioselectivities were obtained in the hydroformylation of frflns-2-hexene, trans-2-nonene and trans-3-nonene at 25 °C. [Pg.207]

Azido-phenylselenenylations of olefinic compounds can be effected with BAIB/PhSeSePh/NaN3 in CH2C12 (Scheme 14) [37]. Such additions proceed in anti-Markovnikov fashion and appear to be initiated by addition of the azido radical to the C,C-double bond. While cyclohexene and ds-4-octene gave 3 1 and 2 1 mixtures of diastereomeric adducts under these conditions, dihydropy-ran was converted cleanly to the trans-addition product. Regioselective azido-phenylselenenylations of dihydropyran derivatives and O-protected glycals with this reagent have also been documented [21,38,39]. [Pg.144]

The same six center-type process may provide an explanation for the peculiar regioselectivity of organometal-promoted eliminations. In violation of Saytzeff s rule and conformal with Hofmann s rule, 2-methoxyoctane produces with organoalkalis almost exclusively 1-octene. Only traces (4%) of cis- and trans-2-octene are detected. ... [Pg.122]
