Azeotropic mixture A mixture whose components have the same composition in both the vapor and liquid phases. 

Bubble point When a binary liquid is heated, the bubble point is the point where the first bubble of vapor is formed. 

Coefficient of performance (COP) A measure of an HVAC s efficiency. It is the ratio of the heat (Q) provided by the condenser to the work (W) done by the compressor that is, COP = Q IW. 

Compressor The mechanical portion of an HVAC system that reduces the refrigerant s volume (in the vapor stage). Work is put into the system by this component. Condenser The component in an HVAC system that converts a refrigerant from a gas to a liquid state.
