When chiral Grignard reagents and asymmetric solvents are employed, varying degrees of asymmetric induction can be achieved in the reduction process. In most cases, the % ee for reduction is small. Nasipuri and coworkers S described the asymmetric reduction of phenylalkyl ketones.l A cyclic model acyclic model were proposed. Asymmetric induction was higher with phenylalkyl ketones than with cyclo-hexylalkyl ketones or rcrr-butylalkyl ketones.
