Reactivities of Group 14 Hydrides

In Table X a number of rate constants taken from the preceding sections are listed for comparison. The measured rate constants for the reactions [Pg.104]

Comparison of Rate Constants for the Reactions of Radicals with Various Group [Pg.105]

This collection of kinetic data for reactions of the group 14 hydrides with various radicals should provide essential information to chemists in both the synthetic and physical communities. As noted in the introduction, the [Pg.106]

We have focused on experimental values in this work, but it is important to note two areas of group 14 hydride kinetics that are not discussed but in which we expect to see considerable progress in the near future. One is the kinetics of reactions of radicals centered on atoms of the third row and above, and the other is computational estimates of rate constants. [Pg.107]

A number of approaches based on calculations have been applied in order to obtain information on the factors that influence the reactivity of radical reactions. In particular, for the hydrogen atom transfer [Eq. (15)] the applied methodologies have spanned from high-level ab initio to empirical calculations. [Pg.108]
