Reactions with Halides and Halogens

Hexaalkyldisilanes can be cleaved very easily by free halogens367,616. The cleavage becomes slower691 with hexaaryldisilanes, and hexahalodisilanes [Pg.24]

Si2H6 + Lime — Si2H5me + LiH 44,234 Si2H5me + Lime — meH2SiSiH2me + LiH. 234  [Pg.24]

Bromine radicals are able to cleave the Si-Si bond, as demonstrated by Hosomi and Sakurai for the reaction of alkyl- or phenyldisilanes with dibromo-ethane in the presence of dibenzoyl peroxide300  [Pg.25]

Methylated tri- and tetrasilanes will be cleaved by bromine or iodine to monohalo disilane s61 °. The cleavage of the last Si-Si bond does not occur. [Pg.25]

The same products were obtained from the halogenation of the corresponding hydrogen compound  [Pg.25]
