Reactions Involving Cations and Radicals

McGarry and Scaiano have measured the absolute kinetics for the addition of free radicals to the propellane (203). The photodecomposition of ethylene oxide has been examined. 

Perfluoroalkenes can be formed photochemically from perfluoroalkanes using decamethylferrocene as the sensitiser. The reaction involves an electron transfer process from the ferrocene to the perfluoroalkanes and the tertiary C-F bonds are cleaved preferentially.
