Reaction of Dinitriles with Dihydrazides

Poly(l,2,4-triazole)s can be obtained by the reaction of dinitriles with dihydrazides or by heating cyanocarboxylic acids. They are found to be resistant to high temperatures, especially when they contain aromatic compounds in the polymer chain.
