Most historians who stumbled across this curious phenomenon quickly moved on to more respectable economic or political topics. The historian Joachim Radkau, however, became fascinated by it. 

Yet as historian Joachim Radkau paged through the complaints of sanatorium patients, he found few that blamed new technology for their afflictions. They did complain about noise, and they worried about their ability to keep up with the steadily increasing pace of work, but something else seemed to be at the heart of the problem.
