Xysmalobii radix

A. simplified extraction procedure can be used for Hclicbori radix, Xysmalobii radix and Exception Strophanthi semen. 

Hellebori radix, Xysmalobii radix Powdered drug (1 g) is extracted by heating under reflux with 10 ml ethanol for 30 min on a water bath. The filtrate is u.sed directly for chromatography. 

Uzara glycosides Five dragees of Uzara (total glycosides of Xysmalobii radix) are fmely powdered and extracted with 10 ml methanol for 5 min at 60 C 20 il of the clear filtrate is used for chromatography. Uzara tincture can be used directly for TLC comparison. 

Xysmalobii radix (1) and the pharmaceutical preparation 2 show with CTA reagent the major compounds uzarin (Tl) and xysmalorin (T5) in one prominent blue to yellow-blue fluorescent zone at R, 0.1-0,15, followed by seven blue, lower-concentrated zones with uzarigenin monoglucoside (T2) at R, — 0.35 and uzarigenin (T3) at R, — 0.8.
