It can be seen that the calculated ignition delay times t in lean CH4/O2 mixtures are sensitive to the choices of rate coefficients for reactions involving CH4, in particular the rates of the chain-initiating steps CH4 + M - CH3 + H + M and CH4 H- O2 CH3 + HO2. There are also influences of rate coefficients of reactions with chain-terminating character
