Quench and drain

The Quench and Drain control is good for removing heat without contaminating or diluting the pumped product. [Pg.217]

Quenching of the drained fluids was calculated as a function of the initial fluid temperature, and of the ratio between fluid and cold sulfuric acid. As a result of an automatic drain at 30°C above normal, the resulting temperature was found to be 90°C. [Pg.152]

For sodium, such reactions become energetically favorable for the excited states. Moreover, they appear to be sufficiently fast ki-netically to reach a steady state during the initial part of the laser pulse. Their overall effect is to drain off elemental sodium or lithium from the dynamic excitation/physical quenching cycle into these chemical sinks. The actual extent depends on the relative magnitudes of the production and loss fluxes. [Pg.190]

Water in the gel bath must be replaced periodically or better yet, continuously to minimize the buildup of solvents or other contaminants in the quench bath. If bacteria slime or turbid water is noted, the tank should be drained and cleaned. [Pg.142]
