Purification and catalytic reaction of glucose oxidase

Early work by Keilin and Hartree (1948) demonstrated a bellshaped profile for the pH-dependence of the initial velocity with a peak at pH 5.6. The enzyme is specific for -D-glucose  

The complex kinetics of GOase have been described by Bright and Porter (1975). Some of the characteristics of the catalytic reaction of GOase are given in Table 10.12.

Purification and catalytic reaction of glucose oxidase A. niger GOase may be obtained commercially at low prices. However, if desired, crude preparations of this enzyme may be purified as described by Nakamura and Fujiki (1968).
