For arbitrary p this model is also considered in Section III, where it is termed the protomodel. 17This formula gives good result in the case of the rectangular potential well (see Sections III and IV). However, it is not applicable for the hat-curved potential well, for which another way of estimation of xm will be suggested. 

The existence of a hydration sheath surrounding an ion is modeled, just as in Section III for our basic protomodel, by an infinitely deep rectangular potential well. Thus we neglect contribution to ionic conductivity of charges, which penetrate through the hydration sheath. A fraction of such charges is shown to be very small [68]. 

The word protomodel means that the employed here potential profile—an infinitely deep rectangular well—is the simplest in the class of the rectangular-like potentials considered in this review.
