Prospective ligands

Cyclodiphosphazanes(III) 27 shown in Scheme 16 undergo oxidation reactions to give the cyclodiphosphazanes(V) of type 28. These are prospective ligands in catalysis since these ligands due to lack of phosphorus lone-pairs are less susceptible to the destructive cycloreversion of the ligands. Hence they could prevent catalyst deactivation in the process. When treated with trimethyl aluminum the cyclodiphosphazanes form symmetrically substituted bimetallic species of type 29 [90]. Characterization by single-crystal X-ray studies show... [Pg.106]

Many ligands of this category offer the prospect of inducing axial metal-ion coordination even for those cases where the pendant arms incorporate weak donor functions. Coordination will be enhanced simply because the donors are held near to the metal and hence their effective ... [Pg.51]

Several methods have been described to liberate the hydroxyl groups from 24 to produce the water-soluble, tetrahydroxyl bidentate ligand 25 [52, 53b]. Water-soluble ligands are of interest due to the prospect of recycling the catalyst into an aqueous phase, ideally without loss of performance. The enantiomeric hydrogenation of itaconic acid was performed in aqueous methanol over a range of solvent compositions (MeOH H20, 9 1 to 3 97), with consistently excellent levels of performance (100% conversion, 99% ee, SCR 100, 12 h) [52 b]. Interest-... [Pg.781]
