Proposed Models of the Sulfided Catalyst

Support for this model is based mainly on the Mo/Al catalyst and includes the following relative to the sulfided catalyst  

Sulfur stoichiometry did not agree with simple conversion of Mo03 to MoS2 and initial results were closer to a one-to-one replacement of O for S (see Section IV.B). 

Surface area measurements were consistent with a monolayer (96). 

NH3 chemisorption was found to be proportional to vacancies and the same as equivalently reduced catalyst 21). 

No MoS2 crystallites were observbed by electron microscopy (96).
