Propargyl methanesulfonate

Propargyl methanesulfonate (0.35 mol) and benzaldehyde (0.44 mol) were dissolved in 148 g toluene and 28% NH4OH (2.96 mol) added at 24°C over 7.5 hours. Thereafter the mixture was stirred 15 hours, the organic phase concentrated, and the product isolated in 80% yield, bp = 80-83 °C at 2.5 mmHg (Note 3). 

In addition, in 1998, the same company discovered chain monosulfonates containing triple bonds, such as propargyl methanesulfonate (34), as well as monosulfonates containing triple bonds in the main chain, such as 2-butyne-l,4-diol dimethanesulfonate (35) [53].
