Other oxidizing agents that have been used to prepare trifluoroketone derivatives include Dess-Martin (1), permanganate (2), and chromic acid (3) and are described. 

The preparation of other pesticides containing the trifluoromethyl-pyridyl component such as 2-halomethyl-5-(4-trifluoromethyl-3-pyridyl)-l,3,4-oxadiazole, (I), is described (4).
