Process flow, surface maching

C/SiC-ZrC composite was also fabricated by RMI process at Ultramet. Ablation properties of the composite were tested by a laser beam at 2691 C with heat flux of 500 W/cm. The composite has minimal weight change (0.0079 g/cm ) and survived in forced air flow at incident angle to surface of specimen up to Mach 0.6 (shown in Figure 6) (http //www.ultramet.com/ceramic matrix composites per-formance.html).
