Problems in the Transport of Amino Acids During Neurotransmission 

There are two main questions concerning transport of amino acids during neurotransmission Is an amino acid used by a particular pathway as the neurotransmitter and, if so, what are the mechanisms of release, action, and reuptake  

To study uptake of amino acids, the radiolabeled exogenous ammo acid is usually incubated along with the preparation for a rectilinear period of the uptake. The preparation is then washed to remove the extracellular radioactivity and the radioactivity m the preparation is counted.
