Private grape breeders

In the 1930s, Riccardo Terzi (1877-1963), a private grape breeder, was active in Bergamo (North Italy). The main result of his work was a aossing of Barbera and Cabernet franc, named Incrocio Terzi no. 1, interesting for the high productivity and the intense colour of the wine. It has recently been discovered that the true pedigree is Barbera x Merlot (Cipriani et al., 2010). [Pg.140]
