Principal Properties and Organic Synthesis

Principal component analysis of property descriptors of classes of compounds reveals the principal properties. The variation of the principal properties between the compunds is measured by the scores. This variation is displayed by the score 

To illustrate the principles, an example of the screening of suitable Lewis acid catalysts is first shown. 

1 Example Screening of Lewis acid Catalysts in Synthetic Procedures [51] 

This study was made to check whether or not selections from score plots would permit suitable Lewis acid catalysts to be found. 

A set of 28 Lewis acids were characterized by ten property descriptors compiled from the literature. The data are shown in Table 9.
