5 Principal Elements of Chirality Encountered in Organometallic and Coordination Chemistry 

Note that in the case of ferrocene derivatives, 1,2- or 1,3-substitution leads to a chiral structure, whereas in the case of the arenes, only 1,2- and 1,3-substitution leads to chiral compounds.  

This type of chiral element is often found in coordination chemistry, in particular for all the hexacoordinated octahedral complexes of type M(L )2A2, in which at least two hgands in a cis position are bis(chelate).
