Prevention of Ostwald Ripening Crystal Growth

The driving force for Ostwald ripening is the difference in solubility between the small and large particles (the smaller particles have a higher solubility than their larger counterparts). The difference in chemical potential between different sized particles was given by Lord Kelvin [2] [Eq. (13.1)]. [Pg.268]

Equation (13.29) shows that, the larger the difference between and ti, the higher the rate of Ostwald ripening. [Pg.268]

Ostwald ripening can be quantitatively assessed from plots of the cube of the radius versus time t [14,15], [Pg.268]
