Pressure ofwater vapour

The partial pressure ofwater vapour at 36 °C is= 59.4 mbar and the vapour... [Pg.21]

When the liquid boils, its temperature does not rise - all the added heat is used to boil the liquid. Both the liquid and gas (vapour) are at the same temperature. This constant temperature is called the boiling point (or boiling temperature) of the substance. The boiling point of water at an air pressure of one atmosphere is 100°C. (At this temperature, the vapour pressure ofwater equals one atmosphere, see page 166.)... [Pg.157]

At the boiling point of a liquid, the saturated vapour pressure equals the external air pressure. At sea level, the air pressure is 1 atm (101 kPa). The boihng point of a liquid at 1 atm external pressure is called the normal boiling point of the liquid. The normal boiling points ofwater and ethanol are 100°C and 7S°C, respectively. [Pg.166]
