Pressure drop irrigated pall rings

Based on Eq. (5-10), the numerical value of the pressure drop of irrigated Pall rings is given as ... [Pg.266]

A packed tower is to be designed for the countercurrent contact of a benzene-nitrogen gas mixture with kerosene to wash out the benzene from the gas. The gas enters the tower at the rate of 1.5 m3/s, measured at 110 kPa and 298 K, containing 5 mol% benzene. Essentially, all the benzene is absorbed by the kerosene. The liquid enters the tower at the rate of 4.0 kg/s the liquid density is 800 kg/m3 and the viscosity is 2.3 cP. The packing will be 50-mm metal Pall rings, and the tower diameter will be chosen to produce a gas-pressure drop of 400 Pa/m of irrigated packing. [Pg.271]

Table 4-1 contains a Kst of some important studies [ 1-21,25,41-48] on the pressure drop of irrigated packings in columns with conventional packing elements, such as Raschig rings, Pall rings and Intalox saddles. The work can be divided into three groups. [Pg.176]

The applicabiKty of Eq. (4-50) for determining the pressure drop of irrigated random packings at laminar liquid flow for Reynolds numbers in the range 0.1 < ReL < 2, was verified based on experimental pressure drop data for 25 mm metal Pall rings, taken by... [Pg.209]
