Pressure core sampler

Hydrated-methane evolution from the pressure core sampler (PCS) was far beyond the normal gas solubility in the core waters, and provided an estimate of hydrate amounts.

Large-scale downhole and heavy equipment, such as augers, split spoon and core barrel samplers, backhoe and excavator buckets, is also decontaminated between samples. Downhole equipment is decontaminated with pressure washing followed by a potable water rinse. Backhoe and excavator buckets are usually dry-brushed to remove gross contamination.
