Prerequisites and Site Information Needed

Electrokinetics is applicable to both saturated and unsaturated soils. However, the soil moisture content should be high enough for electromigration to take place and at the same time less than saturation to avoid the competing effects of tortuosity and pore water content (GWRTAC, 1997). 

Before implementing electrokinetics, it is necessary to find if the site conditions match the requirements necessary for the successful performance of the technology. This can be done by a number of field and laboratory screening tests  

Based on the above information, the following is a list of data needed prior to the implementation of the technology (ITRC, 1997 Kim, Han, and Cho, 2002)
