Preparation of Sulfone Linkers

1 Preparation of Sulfone Linkers. The common means for preparing sulfone linkers are (i) oxidation of the corresponding thioether linker, (ii) using resin-bound benzenesulfinate linker, and (iii) using resin-bound vinyl sulfone. 

The benzenesulfinate resin can also be presented as resin-bound lithium benzenesulfinate. The preparation of such a resin was first described by Hagen et al. where the sulfinate moiety was introduced onto the cross-linked polystyrene via fithiation reaction, followed by
