Preparation of Pentafluorophenyl lithium

Anhydrous thallium trichloride, 7.8 g (25 mmole), is added to the above solu- [Pg.72]

Chlorobis(pentafluorophenyl)thallium(III) is a white, crystalline solid which is indefinitely air and moisture stable, mp 231-239°. It is soluble in acetone, diethyl ether, dichloromethane, chloroform, and warm benzene it is slightly soluble in cold benzene and insoluble in hexane. It is dimeric in chloroform solution (MW 1162, calcd. 574). Characteristic strong bands occur in the infrared spectrum at 1518, 1090, and 970 cm . The alkaline hydrolysis of TlCl(C6Fs)2 gives T1(OH)(C6Fs)2 [KOH) at 3560 cm ]. [Pg.73]

Other thallium compounds of the type TIR2CI (R = 2,3,4,6-CeF4H, 2,3,5,6-C6F4H, or 2,4,6-C6F3H2) can also be prepared by this method. Since they are more soluble in cold benzene, it is convenient to recrystallize them from a [Pg.73]
