Preparation of hydroxyorganosilanes

There are several techniques for obtaining hydroxyorganosilanes. These techniques generally amount to the hydrolysis of halogen-, alkoxy-, acy-loxy-, amino- and hydride substituted organosilanes with water, as well as aqueous solutions of soda or alkali. The hydrolysis proceeds thus  [Pg.147]

Apart from the given common technique, one can prepare hydroxyorganosilanes by the breakdown of the organochlorosilane mixture (with an aqueous alkali solution) obtained by the organomagnesium synthesis  [Pg.147]

However, in this case a mixture of mono-, di- and trihydroxyorganosi-lanes, which is difficult to separate, is formed. [Pg.147]

With the help of organomagnesium substances it is possible to obtain hydroxyorganosilanes from a,co-dihydroxydiorganosiloxancs  [Pg.147]

In this case the Grignard agent serves as a reactant and an agent that breaks the Si—O—Si bonds. [Pg.147]
