8 PREDICTING FIBER ORIENTATION - THE FOLGAR-TUCKER MODEL [Pg.443]

The state of particle orientation at a point can be fully described by an orientation distribution function, x, y). The distribution is defined such that the probability of a particle, located at x and y at time t, being oriented between angles j i and 4 2, is given by [Pg.443]

This is graphically depicted in Fig. 8.55. For simplicity, the x, y, and t from the orientation distribution function can be dropped. [Pg.443]

Since one end of a particle is indistinguishable from the other, the orientation distribution function must be periodic  [Pg.443]
