Potassium tricyanomethanide

A similar complex 80 is also produced in a reaction of cobalt(ll) nitrate with potassium tricyanomethanide (Ktcm) and benzotriazole (BtH). According to the X-ray data for this complex, the CoN6 octahedron is only slightly distorted, having the N-Co-N angles in the range of 88.37-91.16°. The equatorial Co-N(tcm) distances (2.106 and 2.110 A) are... [Pg.16]

Alkylation of Organic Halides with Potassium Tricyanomethanide. The preparation of 1,1,1 - tricy anobutene-3 is given as a typical example of the experimental procedures used in the reaction of organic halides with potassium tricyanomethanide. [Pg.115]

A mixture of 29.0 grams (0.225 mole) of potassium tricyanomethanide (24), 26.6 grams (0.32 mole) of allyl bromide, and 500 ml. of acetonitrile was refluxed with stirring tor 72 hours. The mixture was cooled and Altered to give 21.8 grams (83.5%) of precipitated potassium bromide. The filtrate was concentrated and diluted with ether to precipitate the residual potassium salts. After filtering, the filtrate was concentrated and distilled to give 16.7 ml. (57.8%) of colorless liquid, b.p. 95° C./26 mm. [Pg.116]

The IR spectra and structures of the free tricyanomethanide carbanion and its potassium ion pair have been studied by both spectroscopic experiment and DFT B3LYP force field computations.4 According to the computations, the conversion of the free tricyanomethanide carbanion into an ion pair results in essential changes in the lower-frequency vibration. The experimental geometry agrees with an ion-pair structure with K+ along the C-C=N axis. [Pg.278]
