Eaeh elass was attended by 10-20 students, the teacher, and at least one of the authors. Whole elass teaeher/student talk was audio recorded. We also reeorded some student group diseussions (typically 2-4 students) to examine the impact of whole class talk on a sample of students the student groups were randomly selected. In addition we draw upon statements during post-lesson interviews with two of the... [Pg.284]

He then goes on to emphasise the epistemic learning aims for this part of the lesson. Elsewhere in the lesson he describes the epistemic line as the thread of what we are doing. In the post-lesson interview Daniel reflects on his treatment of this activity ... [Pg.289]

Data collection and analysis. Researeh data were eolleeted as follows prelesson interviews explored Neil s intentions, the three lessons were observed and audio taped, and post-lesson interviews explored Neil s refleetions. The teacher interviews were conducted by both authors and audio taped all tapes were transcribed verbatim. The data were analyzed from an interpretative phenomenological perspective (Smith, 1995) aimed at produeing trustworthy interpretations. To enhance rigor, all of the transeripts and observation notes were independently read and interpreted by both authors. Individual analyses were compared and discussed, when necessary, to reach consensus (Janesick, 1994). [Pg.355]

It is good practice to reviewa project on completion and record the reasons for departure between planned and actual performance. Where lessons can be learned, or opportunities exploited, they should be incorporated into project management guidelines. Some companies hold post project sessions with their contractors to explore better ways of handling particular issues, especially when there is an expectation of additional shared activities. [Pg.294]

Phase 3 - Implementation. This phase is often called the post-experimental stage. It is about acting on the results and communicating the lessons learnt. Some points on the process are given below ... [Pg.309]

To help you gauge how much you know about what kinds of materials are available to you and the best ways to locate those materials, this book begins with a pre-test. This pre-test is important to take before you start Lesson 1 so that you have a beginning measure of your research knowledge. Then, when you have finished Lesson 20, take the post-test to see just how much... [Pg.9]

Now that you have completed all the lessons in this book, take the post-test to see how much you have learned and what you remember. The questions should be much easier for you to answer than in the pretest, but if you still need further explanation, the answer key provides a reference for you. Each answer lists the chapter that will explain any question you answered incorrectly. [Pg.119]

Such prankery, proto-Situationist, anti-spectacular but fully spectacularized, seeded a movement. Offensive shock and the trashing of conventional values are not confined to the rarefied zone of the art world in the post-war period. One example provides a lesson on value from various perspectives. On 22 August 1994 Jim Cauty and Bill Drummond, The k Foundation, travelled to the island of Jura off the west coast of ScotJand with a suitcase containing 1,000,000 in new 50 notes. Two others accompanied them as witnesses to the deed they were about to commit. In the early hours of the next morning... [Pg.241]

TV presentation is only one part of the learning procedure. Preparation for the TV lesson or the pre-telecast activities and the follow-up or post-telecast activities by the classroom teacher are equally important without which the TV lesson may not be very much meaningful. [Pg.152]

This is the second part of the matched pre- and post-unit assessments of students ideas about chemicals. By comparing the individual and class responses from Lesson 1 with those from the following three activities, you will be able to document students learning over the course of the unit. During the first lesson, students... [Pg.171]

In risk management, reaction to new information and changed opinion is essential. Thus there is a cycle of assessment, management and reassessment. In the case of incidents and accidents, lessons are often learned by careful post facto examination of the events. One aim of post facto enquiries is to learn from previous events, and, when the event is of sufficient seriousness. Governments set up official enquiries in order, inter alia, to determine what went wrong and how to reduce the likelihood of it happening again. [Pg.30]

Do post-job critiques and reviews reveal that chemical safety concerns were adequately handled, or if identified, they were adequately pursued and resolved Is there evidence showing that lessons learned are properly used to improve work conditions or performance ... [Pg.50]

In Figures main results of calculations of all participants of the ISP-43 together with the experimental data are presented for the test A. Despite the very simplified input model, our results are well within the range of results of the other participants, and follow some significant features of the experiment. In the post-test phase, reasons of discrepancies should be identified, and corresponding lessons learned. [Pg.141]

Often lessons can be learnt-through with respect to health and safety by undertaking post project evaluation. This data should be recorded in the Health and Safety Hie which can provide a safely feedback and incorporate lessons learnt, see Figure 7.1. [Pg.126]
